“Dr. Martens” is a trading division of Airwair International Limited which is the legal entity responsible (Data Controller) for the processing of your personal information on our website and if you transact with Dr. Martens in store.

  • our in-store customers at Dr. Martens stores; and

As a general rule we do not process any special categories of personal information about you. In any case we will only collect and process your special categories of information where we have obtained your prior explicit consent.

When you make a purchase on our website:

  • Your contact details including: your name, address, email address, phone number;
  • Information about the product / service purchased;
  • Your payment details; and
  • Your name and email address if you buy an e-gift card.

We delete your information when it is no longer necessary to retain for the specified purposes which is normally two years after your last order.

We do store some types of information for longer if we are obliged by law to do so, e.g., to comply with bookkeeping obligations.

  • Help us ensure that our customers are genuine and to prevent fraud;
  • Ask for feedback on your recent purchase(s), via a third party.
We process your information because of our legitimate interest in providing, administrating and securing our services to you (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Send newsletters, personalized offers or shopping ideas which are based on your shopping habits (only if you have given your consent);
If you have given your consent, we process your information in order to provide you with marketing content (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).

When you visit or make a purchase in one of our stores:

  • Video footage from CCTV surveillance in our stores;
  • Contact details, if necessary, to complete your order or to deliver the service that you require;
  • Information about the product / service purchased;
  • Your payment details;
  • Your name and contact details if you buy a gift card;
  • Your email address if you choose to receive your receipt via email; and
  • Your photograph, name and email address if you choose to interact with a digital photo wall.

  • Register your gift card so you can use it in any of our stores; and

We delete your information when it is no longer necessary to retain for the specified purposes which is normally two years after your last order.

We do store some types of information for longer if we are obliged by law to do so, e.g., to comply with bookkeeping obligations.

CCTV images are typically retained for no longer than 30 days unless it is necessary to retain the footage for longer to investigate a security incident or for health and safety reasons.

Where we have a digital photo wall in store, your photo is stored with us and our third party service provider for 13 months, in case you might want to access it again during this period of time.

  • Prevent crime and for security reasons (CCTV);
  • Help us ensure that our customers are genuine and to prevent fraud;
  • Ask for feedback on your recent purchase(s), via a third party;
We process your information because of our legitimate interest in providing, administrating and securing our services to you (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Send personalized offers or shopping ideas which are based on your shopping habits (only if you have given your consent);
  • Provide an electronic copy of your order and/or receipt;
  • Print your photo or provide a digital copy to you by email.
If you have given your consent, we process your information in order to provide you with marketing content and to display your photo on our in-store digital photo wall (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).

When you register an account with us: :

  • Your contact details including: your name, address, email address;
  • Password;
  • Information about your order history.

  • To communicate with you regarding your account and our services; and
We process your personal information in order to perform our contract with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

We delete your information when it is no longer necessary to retain for the specified purposes or when you close your account with us.

  • For marketing purposes (newsletters and offers will only be sent to you if you have given your consent).
If you have given your consent, we process your information in order to provide you with marketing content (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).

When you communicate with us whether in person, through our website or via email, over the phone or via any other medium:

  • Your contact details (this may include your social media account name if that is the way you communicate with us);
  • The details of your communications with us (including when you sent it, when we received it and where you sent it from (such as our website, via email, through social media);
  • Recordings of any telephone conversations with you; and
  • The details of our messages to you.

When you sign up to one or more of our services such as newsletters, exclusive offers, surveys, competitions and notification of restocking:

  • Your mobile number
  • Information about your newsletter and marketing preferences
  • Information about your experience with us or our products

  • Anonymously analyse survey responses improving the use and satisfaction of our website, services and products.
We process your information because of our legitimate interest in providing you information about restocking of sizes (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR)

If you are an employee at a business contact/supplier:

  • Your name and title, contact details, company name, business title, email address;
  • Where the business contacts have online accounts, log-in and similar credentials and information about use of these services;
  • Communications with our business contacts.

WHERE WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM

    The majority of personal information we process is collected directly from you for the purposes outlined in the previous section of this notice. However, sometimes we also collect information from other sources including payment processing companies; your bank; other entities in our group; data brokers; and other members of a loyalty scheme. We do this in order to:

  • provide our services;
  • manage and administer our systems;
  • take payment from you or give you a refund;
  • help us ensure that our customers are genuine and to prevent fraud;
  • personalize our service to you by complementing your behaviors and preferences;
  • perform statistical analysis and research into our customers so that we can better understand our customers and allow us to develop and improve our services to meet the needs and preferences of our customers; and
  • combine this information with other types of information mentioned above to create holistic profiles of our customers which allows us to make our services more personal and tailored to each customer’s preferences and habits.

Sometimes we incidentally collect information from public sources such as the media and social media platforms in order to maintain market awareness and build social media branding.

INFORMATION WE SHARE

    In certain situations, we share your personal data with partners, contractors and other third parties:

  • Our Group – We share information about you with other members of our group of companies so we can provide the best service across our group. Any sharing of information within our Group is covered by our Intra-Group Agreement.
  • Suppliers and Service Providers – We share information with certain contractors, suppliers or service providers. They may process your personal data for us, for example, if we use a marketing agency. Other recipients / service providers include advertising agencies, IT specialists, providers of cloud services, third party payment processors, delivery drivers, social media platforms, database providers, backup and disaster recovery specialists, email providers or outsourced call centers.
  • Fraud Prevention – We also share your information with certain third parties where we have a legitimate interest to do so. These include credit reference agencies, anti-fraud databases, screening agencies and other partners we do business with such as other loyalty scheme members. If we are not able to share information with certain third-party partners who are also in our loyalty scheme, we will not be able to offer that service.
  • Legal – Your personal information may also be shared if it is necessary on reasonable request by a law enforcement or regulatory authority, body or agency (including the police) or in the defence of legal claims. We will not delete personal information if relevant to an investigation or a dispute. It will continue to be stored until those issues are fully resolved.
  • Reviews – We also partner with third parties, including Yotpo, to collect impartial product reviews from customers who purchase our products from this website. These third parties may contact you via email on our behalf in order to give you an opportunity to review your purchase. These third parties will not use your personal information for any purpose other than to invite you to write a review and will handle your information securely. If you do not wish to receive further emails from these parties, please click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email.
  • If we are discussing selling or transferring part or all of our business, anonymised information may be transferred to prospective purchasers under suitable terms as to confidentiality.
  • If we are reorganised or sold, information may be transferred to a buyer who can continue to provide services to you. We will always inform you in advance of this taking place.

Your personal data may be shared if it is made anonymous, as in such circumstances the information will cease to be personal data.
