MOTH-REPELLENT HANGERS for Fine Woolens, Pants, Coats
For 4 hangers you will need 4 sturdy wooden hangers, 1-2 pounds of
Herbal Moth Repellent, and 4 pieces of nice cotton cloth 8 inches by
13 inches. The herbal mixture can be made of equal quantities of
Pennyroyal herb,
Camomile flowers, (also spelled
Chamomile flowers) and
Spearmint; Bay leaves mixed with
Eucalyptus leaves; or simply
Cedar shavings
that you have picked up at
the lumberyard. For this mixture it's best to use whole, dried leaves
and flowers or ones that are coarsely cut.
1) Curl the fabric into a
13-inch-long tube over the lower edge of the hanger and sew a seam into
this long edge.
2) Take a piece of string or pretty ribbon and tightly
tie to close off one end of the tube.
3) Stuff the open end of the tube
with the herbal mixture. It will take at least 4 ounces of herbs.
4) Tie the open end tightly to contain the herbs.
The scent and repellent properties of the herbs will seep through
the cloth to whatever is on the hanger, keeping it safe from moths
and bugs. In a year or so it will be an easy matter to refresh your
herbal mixture by untying one end of the cloth tube and replacing the
herbs with a fresh mixture.
